She broke the barriers to win a very competitive Crown because of her passion and labor to ensure that Teenagers overcome depression and suicide.
Her passion was born from her own daughter’s struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. It is then that she founded Voice of Our Child, a program that offers life skills to children from the age of 6 to 17 years. The aim of the program is to give children a foundation that enables them to deal with life situations at every stage of their growth.
She is also the founder of WaterGap- Africa Safaris which enables tourists to see the beauty in Africa and its wild, as well as provide clean water for needy families in Kenya.
“I am extremely honored to be receiving such an important award (Top 50 Women Leaders international award 2019). I am earnestly grateful for the recognition I have received for my work, because I am very sure that every other nominee for this award was as capable if not more, of receiving this award” Say Mrs. Caroline .

“I have faced several challenges on my way here, but each one of them has only strengthened me to make me the person I am today; a thorough professional who knows exactly what she wants; someone who sets her eyes on a goal and does not lose sight of it, until it’s achieved. Receiving this a second time, would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from my loving husband Mr. Verkaik, my lovely children, family and friends for whom I have the deepest respect, and from whom I have derived the strength to challenge myself and perform better at each stage” she states .
“I sincerely thank each one of you for helping me reach a stage where I can proudly hold up this award as a mark of my service to the community. I also promise to only get better at my fight against teen depression and suicide as well as providing needy communities with water through WaterGap- Africa Safaris, so that you can see me here for more such awards”.
She also appreciates Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong who saw her passion of fighting depression and teen’s suicide and honed it such that she is now able to open a Franchise in Asia as well as the rest of the world.
“Everyone needs such a mentor in life, and I am lucky to have found mine. Thank you Ms. Nguyen for playing that role for me, she continues to say.

On a closing note, Mrs. Verkaik’s encouragement echoes the words of a famous proverb “If you want to go fast walk alone, but if you want to go far walk with people”. She mentions this proverb has been her real experience with WLIN as she expresses her joy after being named among top 50 women global leaders 2019.
Her happiness new no bounds but her hard work and dedication made her stand out. She confirms that there is hidden power in networking. A network with mutual value often compounds as each person is willing to help each other during the ups and downs of their career and life. Women Leadership International Network has been that for me, she concludes.
WLIN Kenya is fortunate enough to have Caroline as President. Her vigilance and passion to see the network grow and women in business come on board is Evident. WLIN Global team is proud to celebrate her success./.
